Koushik. He's a man who can throw some beats around. He's probably got an old delapidated garage full of broken beats and bits of rusty hip hop, some musty but glorious funk/soul samples & a framed autographed picture of his mate Keiran "Four Tet" Hebden who he buys his latest beats off by the quarter pound in Mr. Tet's olde funking sweet beat shoppe. 'Lying in the Sun' is a highly limited white label 7" out on Stones Throw with some seriously hip shakin beats overlaid with some hazy street soul & field recordings that pep his tunes up nicely, making them sound really organic & lively. I like side 2 best, it's smashing! Be quick on this funker.

What their label says...

Four years after his first release on Stones Throw, the Canadian-bred, Vermont-based artist known as Koushik is finally ready with ‘Out My Window’, his debut album, and this very limited 45 is the appetiser. For fans of Panda Bear, Caribou, Maps, RJD2 and Four Tet (who released Koushik’s debut single on his Text label), this is reason to celebrate: Koushik makes supremely tuneful, beautifully rickety, hip hop-inflected electronic psych-pop with true crossover appeal, like what Brian Wilson would have sounded like if he were schooled in ProTools and hung out with Beck.
