Another Limited edition 7" and this one is by Poppy & The Jezebels. It's called UFO and the flipside features a remix by Party Shank. It's produced by John Rivers who did The Specials 'Ghost Town' classic years back. The first time I read that I thought it said Joan Rivers and I had to re read it.... She looks younger than she did 20 years ago the freak......Hollywood is full of vain weirdos with mental health issues I tell you! Seriously mind, this is a really great little pop tune. The first thing that springs to mind is early Bananarama.... Brian has just parped up late period Fuzzbox. It's a fresh sounding little pop classic where the music doesn't really sound like anything obviously familiar, it has all these bubbling, special touches hovering just beneath the surface and the old skool pop vocals are blinding, dulcet yet complimentarily monotonous! Are they being groomed as the slightly dayglo indie badgirl antithesis of the frankly heinous Girls Aloud? Great verse, great chorus, great little tune. I think there may be something very special happening on here as this is some great perfect pop music. The Party Shank mix on the flipside is neither here nor there, fun but doesn't add to the original! Still the A side is so lush we can overlook that one! x Phil Cochon d'inde et Brian Dangermousse
