Skream serves up some Missy Elliott sampling dubstep biz here on Tectonic, with 'Supa Dupa Fly' popping up on the A-side of his 'Hedd Banger' and 'Percression' 12". That one's a sluggy sloth of a tune, with the emphasis heavily on the 'dub' whereas the other side goes with the 'step'. 'Techno step' that is! "Go and sit on the techno step Brett, you've been a very futuristic boy." It's quite an unexpected track this one, bubbling along at a high BPM in total contrast to the scene's usual output. 'Hedd Banger' is very good but 'Percression' is excellent. 12" vinyl record, I recommend you!

What their label says...

It's a very welcome return to Tectonic for one of dubstep's most prolific artists - the one and only Skream! Skream has been battering dancefloors for
some time now, with his unique take on squelching, wobbling sub-low sonics, often demented synth lines and creative but solid rhythm and melodic
explorations. He's led the way for a scene since the fledgling years of dubstep, feeding beats to the likes of Hatcha and Kode 9 throughout his teenage
years, shaping the sound to come. Several years on, Skream can boast tearing up dancefloors and festivals all over the world with a non-stop gig
schedule that reaches from Japan, USA, Australia through Glastonbury, Sonar etc etc. Superstar!
Although often associated with dancefloor wobble innovation, it can be easy to overlook the deeper side of Skream's sound. 'Hedd Banger' is excellent
example of this side of the mirror ball - a heavily weighted track with a dark edge that rolls through paranoid soundscapes, razor like synths cutting
through en route. Not for the faint hearted nor the weak knee'd, this track is a physical workout that will test the worthiness of any soundsystem.
'Percression' is an innovative little number, combining elements of techno and dub in a way that no one else could pull off. This is pure bounce, its 4/4
beat pounding throughout, skitty drums and expanding/contracting reverbs providing the 'stagger factor' that keeps things swinging. It's a different
beast - but for those who feel the vibe - a successful experiment in wonky-techno-dubstep-type-thing! Championed recently in Appleblim's highly
acclaimed Tempa Allstars Mix.
