It's nice to know that in between the Arctic Monkeys and Franz Ferdinand records, in between the American imports like Bonnie Billy and Smog and in between the shit bands like The Kills and The Blueskins they still harvest some of their more interesting gome grown talent like Hood (another album maybe one day?) and Pram. Co incidentally here's a new Pram 12" on Domino called Prisoner of The Seven Pines featuring remixes by Psapp, Modified Toy Orchestra, Cherrystones and Grandmaster Gareth. In fact you get 5 whole tracks.... one original by Pram and 4 remixes of tracks from The Moving Frontier album. The Pram track is well lovely. Cosy homespun cheeky electronics which sound like the David Lynch and Angelo Badamenti music from Twin Peaks. Thoroughly charming.....The Psapp mix does what it says on the tin... light and bubbly... they're the aeros of indie pop. I do like a bit of Psapp I have to say..... The Grandmaster Gareth mix is a bit of surprise as well. Again it's light and bubbly... almost cheeky with it's toytown electronics. Reminds of Raymond Scott with crashing drums.... Fans of Sirconical will like this mix. There's the Cherrystones mixes and Modified Toy Orchestra mixes as well but I don't want to ruin all the fun. Great stuff!

‘Prisoner Of The Seven Pines’ is a remix collection based on tracks from Pram’s 'The Moving Frontier' album. It features remixes from Domino electronic duo Psapp, flashing psychedelic kid Grandmaster Gareth, Godsy (Gareth Cherrystone) and the childlike joy of Modified Toy Orchestra, as well as the album version of the title track which, with it's instinctive and delicate arrangement, sounds like a dance scene from some long forgotten animated folk tale.
