Following the widespread critical acclaim bestowed upon their Danger Mouse produced second album ‘Replica Sun Machine’, The Shortwave Set are set to release its second single, the relentless swirling psychedelia of ‘Now Til ‘69’. Yearning for the forever unobtainable, and underpinned with a sense of the fruitless pursuit, ‘Now Til ‘69’ is The Shortwave Set with ‘pop’ turned up to eleven, an addictive collage of Roxy-esque squelches, Spector drums, and The Fifth Dimension on vocals.
The package includes brand new tracks ‘Petrol To The Flame’ and ‘Under Endeavour’ plus two remixes by French electro guru (and former Madonna collaborator) Mirwais.
His first mix stays true to the vocal and melody, whilst jacking up the momentum somewhat. However, on his extended club mix he deftly delineates Ulrika and Andrew’s vocals, and transports them to a more sinister, darker place. Meanwhile, Eskimo favourites Aeroplane stay faithful to the melody but de-pop and synthesize the hooks for what will surely be a Balearic classic.
