October 2007 heralded the second vinyl offering from Luke “Lukid” Blair, following up his impressive debut album ‘Onandon’ from the preceeding spring.  The opiated album cut ‘The Now’ which gives the EP it’s title is joined by a killing remix from Warp signee Hudson Mohawke, who opens the track right out into a dark atmospheric 2-step joint. Flipside cuts ‘Ski Fly’ and ‘56’ are exclusiuve to this release, created in the wake of the success of ‘Onandon’ and marking a bridging point to the material that will be unveiled on his new album, due in autumn 2008. An indespensable set of tracks with that already-classic Lukid flow and presence. Sounding like the awkward teenage son of a civil partnership between Dabrye and Theo Parrish, Lukid’s rubik cube groove is built from dusty loops, off kilter riddims and unidentified clickly-clacky noises, equal parts Cologne minimal and the swagger of post-Dilla-school Detroit hip hop.
