Beck's 45 is rotating and it's not what I expected at all... Well actually I did cos I heard the album but I never expected the album to sound like it did so there... 'Chemtrails' is a somber 60's pop inspired tune from the chameleon of modern music. You really never know where he's heading next. On second spin it's a catchy little number with a euphoric psychedelic feel. There are quieter bits with some piano tinkles and then big drum rolls when it kicks back in. Dangermouse has sprinkled it with his production magic to give it a dusty feel and it rocks out at the end too. 'Vampire Voltage No.6' on the flipside is equally as fun. The acoustic guitar is more akin to his earlier wonky country but the whole thing just sparkles with its powerful vocal that has a smattering of effects and then it launches into an almighty fuzzed up garage rock psych freakout. Definitely feeling his new direction with these two incredibly well constructed numbers. Ltd white vinyl 7" on XL.
