CocoRosie left a lovely-looking hand-numbered picture disc with a happy stork and an innocent little flower child found it in the cabbage patch with a note written in light pink crayon telling us all that it's limited to 3000 and called 'God Has a Voice, and She Speaks Through Me'. Then a baby all covered with blood fell out of a woman's bum (that's where they come from really, isn't it?) and suddenly there were clouds in sunshine land. This song's supposedly all about suicide and stuff but you'd never really tell, the vocoder-y vocals and charmingy gentle beats combined with the nursery rhyme melodies give you the impression this is music that could only have been made by people who've never had a bad experience in their lives.. Maybe they think the word means something different, like someone told them that the term for a group of cute fluffy wuffy wittle wabbits is 'a suicide of rabbits'. It's the only explanation I can come up with. Anyway, I like it quite a bit and it doesn't really sound like anyone other than themselves which is a bit of a rarity in this music-saturated day and age. The other side is a cool little novelty, minutes of silence followed by a few seconds of singing then more silence. Thanks for that then!

What their label says...
With a springtime dancefloor sound, CocoRosie narrate a suicide story that takes place in a tender & elated moment of innocence, focusing on releasing & returning to Mother Nature. CocoRosie’s fascination with combining things that clash continues to drive their process in both song and production. Their current creative environments range from hi-fi studios to simple field recordings (dolphin and whale sounds, for example). Some inspirations to their hearts at the moment are Cher, Beethoven, and finding true love’s kiss. CocoRosie are currently working on the follow up to their last full length ‘The Adventures Of Ghosthorse & Stillborn’, slated for release in 2009. This new work will continue in the vein of this single, exploring spiritual dance music, driven by oceanic and apocalyptic themes. Hand numbered limited edition 7” picture disc (500 copies) with art by Bianca in a clear plastic sleeve.
