Ville Leinonen - Suudelmitar

Suudelmitar by Ville Leinonen

Fonal records present Ville Leionen's 2004 album "Suddelmitar", finally made available outside of Finland for the first time. This collection of
nylon-string guitar lead songs is steeped in folky, psychedelia and Spanish folk music styles. Tracks feature multi-layered instrumentation and
arrangements; sitars, double basses, mandolins and brass collide to create a rich sound, which would appeal to fans of both The Tindersticks and
Comus. This is gentle music, perfectly executed by subtle performances, ranging stylistically from upbeat campfire-folk (track 1 "Suudelmitar"), to
jazzy bossa-nova "track 6 "Wien"). The vocals hold a mystery within the lyrical phrases - talk of foreign places, love and loss, sorrow and joy.
Beautifully packaged, the album's accompanying booklet provides English lyrical translations and features artwork by Anna Elo.
