2562 - Aerial

Aerial by 2562

Info:
After releasing two of the fastest-selling twelves on Tectonic in 2007, it was a natural step for Dave '2562' Huismans to commit his first full-length to
the imprint. Of course, it helps to be on one of the only dubstep labels around that can release consistently good dancefloor vinyl as well as
critically-acclaimed CD artist albums when the mood takes them. With Cyrus and Pinch to compete with in the album stakes, expectations were high
for Huismans to drop something truly stunning. If you can imagine a perfect marriage between Benga or Skream style rhythm and bass with Basic
Channel soundscapes - you will go some way to realising why everyone is getting so excited about this album!
'Aerial' follows the two-track vinyl teaser Techno Dread b/w Enforcers (TEC020) which sold out on advance orders alone. Fear not though completists!
The tracks are featured on the CD version, along side the lead tracks Channel Two and Kameleon, both drawn from the 2007 singles, that found their
way onto the decks of everyone from Mary Anne Hobbs, Skream, Kode 9, to Laurent Garnier and anyone else with their ears primed for heavy bass,
deep funk and sublime dub. - 'Aerial' ticks all the boxes for a varied, multi-faceted debut.
Dutch born, Huismans takes his name from his Hague home district code '2562' but takes his musical influence from further afield - Detroit, Kingston,
Croydon, Berlin. Being versed in a wide amount of music, Huismans is philosophical when questioned on how he came across his distinctive,
earth-shattering style:
"I didn't want to jump someone else's train, but I figured if I bring my own musical background and preferences into play, I would come up with different
music anyway. That's what I usually do really; absorb and process elements from all kinds of music I love and fuse them into something I feel
comfortable calling my own."
Huismans' previous incarnations have included the dubbed out broken-beat of Dogdaze on the Flying High label and more recently as A Made Up
Sound - making serious moves in techno on Shed's Hardwax affiliated Subsolo imprint.
If 2007 was a year for Burial and Pinch, then summer 2008 surely has 2562 written all over it. 'Aerial' is the fourth CD release on a label that has yet to
put a foot wrong, from an artist set to realize his potential with this brilliant album surely destined for great things.
