Hmm.. The Memphis Industries are describing this Tokyo Police Club 'In A Cave'7" as 'post-punk' which is one of the biggest stretches I've heard in a while. There's not really anything remotely boundary-pushing here (then again I still think of 'post-punk' in the old fashioned way rather than the pedestrian reinvention of the term in the past few years) but it's decent straight-ahead rock, pushed along by trebly guitar lines, that's well put together. The B-side is a short Hefner-esque acoustic job, it's nice enough but doesn't linger too long in the memory. What the label says:Tokyo Police Club release ‘In A Cave’ the second single from ‘Elephant Shell’, three minutes of effortlessly and expertly constructed post-punk. This 7” comes backed with exclusive acoustic version of ‘Graves’. |
