A1 – Eat The World – snapping and clanking crystalline beats free-fall through the night whilst a barbed and cracked melody hitches up its skirt, pushes on the accelerator and powers into a Tokyo-glow cityscape. Dubstep that announces its arrival with a bass grunt, sweetly sings in your ear, oscillates in your chest, then leaves you wondering why it's gone so dark on its departure. A2 - Park Mist - late-night open spaces and swirling weather-fronts vibrate with ten tons of black-ice-block bassline. The twisting melody builds the tension to the drop where the raw synths and clattering percussion cut and saw and guide you into an acidic and nocturnal unknown. This is dubstep outdoors, charting a path walked by the ghosts of King Tubby and Daphne Oram, with forward thinking stepheads hitchhiking at the crossroads. A strange and brutal brew.Real analogue synths and custom tone generators supply the fuel for this excursion through the home streets of the dub-mighty and the dark corridors of Radiophonic reverberation. Veil and Test Conditions are headed up by Matt Huish Saunders known for his work as one half of maverick electronica misfits Magnétophone who have released two albums on 4AD and numerous singles, 12”s and compilations with other labels and institutions including NYC's Visionaire and Esopus. He has worked with an eclectic range of musicians including Sonic Boom, King Creosote, Kim Deal, Kelley Deal, James Yorkston, PG Six & The Earlies. He also presents a regular radio programme on 10Radio 105.3FM in UK SW (streaming on 10radio.org) called The Electric Briefcase showcasing dubstep, dub, hauntology and electronica.
