The Rascals are Miles Kane (guitar), Joe Edwards (bass) and Greg Mighall (drums). Hailing from The Wirral, on Merseyside, these three 21 year olds spent the last 3 years learning their craft as part of The Little Flames, touring with bands like The Coral, The Zutons and most notably, Arctic Monkeys. It was during this time supporting Arctic Monkeys, inspired by their maverick DIY spirit and refusal to comprimise, the three youngest Flames decided it was time to trust their hearts and their instincts and go it alone. In September, 2006 they began jamming and writing new material as a three piece and there was born The Rascals.

The Rascals have an ear for beautiful pop melodies and an instinct for psychedelic quirk, however there's a unique and compelling dark soul that underlines their spirit. With Scott Walker chief among their music heroes, there is a sweeping epic quality to their music that meets a David Lynch-esque vision in their lyrics.
Opener and title track “Rascalize”  is a call to arms- whilst “Bond Girl”, penned about that ‘favourite girl’, boasts a psychotic 50’s sound complimented by frantic guitar solos. Thebass driven “Out Of Dreams' highlights the wisdom of this young band with insightful lyrics. Lead single “Freakbeat Phantom” with its muted bass, unique guitar sounds and strong harmonies over a distincive groove, is  a trademark Rascals track. Attention is returned to the female of the species, with arguably the heaviest track on the record, “Stockings To Suit”, we then come to a close with the venomous “ I’ll Give You Sympathy”, fat bass and spat our lyrics finalize what has been a unique journey into The Rascals world.
Recorded with producer Ben Hillier (The Horrors, Blur, Elbow) in London, the fruits of those sessions will be released through Deltasonic

About the humble LP:

The LP is the daddy of formats. 12" inches of sheer joy. The LP adds to the glory of the 12" record as it can be played at a slower speed (33rpm instead of the usual 45rpm for singles), consequently more musical joy can be had. Played on a decent deck the sound of an LP is about a million times better than any other format. They look fantastic...... a nice gatefold sleeve with a information rich inner sleeve will keep you entertained for hours even before your stylus has chance to make eye contact with it's 12" prey. An essential part of musical heritage which will never be forgotten. It still does play at a multitude of speeds but as it's recorded to be played slower they normally sound ridiculous sped up. Though double albums can make up for this slight inadequacy by ramming more tunes into your ears for your money. Utterly essential.
