Soul Jazz Records RE- release A Certain Ratio’s seminal ‘Early’ anthology, recently part of the Guardian’s 100 Albums To Die For.
Described by Andy Weatherall as his all-time favourite band. Fans of A Certain Ratio would follow the band religiously across the country. Army fatigues, whistles and fake tan gave ACR a truly unique identity.
A Certain Ratio were the first group (alongside Joy Division) to sign to Manchester’s infamous Factory Records in 1978, future home of New Order and Happy Mondays. As purveyors of dance music in the aftermath of Punk, A Certain Ratio led the field.
