So.. Volcanology by Brooklyn. Christ on a bike. It's jaunty, it's got 'ooh-oohs' and 'ba-bas' and it's WELL indie. At the start it upset my ears and by the end of the A-side the upset had trickled down my food pipe and infected my already black heart. Now I'm not even sure if I like music anymore. Looking on the bright side, there's also a remix that improves things several-fold, giving the vocals a bit of room and plodding along pleasantly enough, plus there's only 300 of these available on white vinyl so they're, y'know, collectable. I'm clutching at straws here. Invisible straws, covered in boiling chip fat. In the dark.TRACKLISTING:

OVERVIEW: Started in 2005 Brooklyn is and has become one of the major bands representing the
rising Parisian rock scene. They provide unbeatable pop melodies crossed with an intense and raw energy, Somewhere between Beatles beautiful pop songs and the energy of raw indie rock. Formerly a trio, four piece Brooklyn delivers an intense and positive live experience not to be forgotten, they have already supported Razorlight in Paris (Olympia), Bordeaux and Montpellier, The Kooks and the Wombats at the Carling Academy in London, Liverpool, SXSW in Texas, New York and are about to support operator please in Japan not bad for a fledgling four piece.
There is noise truculence to Brooklyn that constantly tempers “Big Star” power pop elements. And Singer/songwriter Ben Ellis is the only rock star although he couldn't make his music without Jane Lane on Bass, Db guitar/Backing vocals and Leo Colson, Keith moons favourite child on drums.
Their songs Clandestine and Heart Lies have appeared on the "Paris calling" album released in 2006 on Because music which showcased the wealth of talent France had to offer the indie market, they also featured on the Xfm, Artrocker, redstripe compilation and the "taste of things to come" sampler in 2008. Not to mention Volcanology being used by Sky TV.
July 2008 will see their debut album Clandestine, produced by Clive Martin out in the UK which features an array of songs from the kinks inspired "Lonely Days" to "Volcanology" the first single taken from the album which will be released on all formats including a Limited edition white 7" vinyl. Brooklyn are set to be one of the major indie league players as they gather support from both sides of the pond and they have a rapidly growing fan base already established in Japan.
