OVERVIEW: Fresh from recent triumphs at SXSW, and riding a sizeable wave of good will and expectation following the release of her debut single 'Little Bit' on 7" label Moshi Singles back in February, Lykke Li releases follow-up 'I'm Good, I'm Gone'. It is the first official single from her debut album 'Youth Novels', now scheduled for a UK release 9 June on her own imprint, LL Recordings. Lykke Li is certainly more deserving of that oft-misused term 'hotly tipped' than most. By the admission of anyone who has witnessed the Swede perform in the flesh in the past 6 months, this artist is box-fresh and supremely talented. Since completing work on her debut album and undertaking her first shows in London in Autumn 2007, queues have formed around the block wherever she's played. Y'see, Lykke Li is that most rare of musical commodities – an artist of both style and genuine substance. On stage, she is intoxicating – all stack heels, topknot, mesmerising dance moves, tambourine tapping, and smouldering stares. The confident and somewhat coquettish postures Lykke Li mimics once in front of an audience (she was a professional dancer before she gave it all up to pursue music) are in many ways at odds with the girl who lies within though – a wide-eyed often-shy 22-year-old hell-bent on learning, living, dreaming, hoping, getting restless, getting up, getting out, and working hard to work out who she wants to be… Lykke Li's debut album 'Youth Novels' - produced by Peter & John’s Bjorn Yttling - was recorded in New York towards the end of 2007 - the result being one of the most perfect albums you'll hear all year.
