What we say

Rating: happy This record left our Phil feeling happy.

Quick mention to Dubstep Allstars Volume 06 which has arrived. This one is mixed by Skull Disco's Shackleton and it features folks like, Peverelist, Pinch, 2562, Skream, Geiom, The Blim himself and loads of other folks. Nice dubby dubstep mix for you just in time for summer... get on the grass with a picnic, some huge fat ones and chill out to it. Well nice!

What the label says:

‘Dubstep Allstars 6’, the next in the massively acclaimed series that brought the scene its very name, is curated and mixed by Bristol based Producer-DJ, Laurie ‘Appleblim’ Osborne.
Alongside Skull Disco partner Shackleton, Appleblim has forged a sound of his own in both his production and DJ sets affording him interest from Ricardo Villalobos, Radio Slave and Kode 9 amongst others.
With his taste falling somewhere between dub and techno, Tempa made the decision to draft in the acutely
talented Appleblim in order to showcase another face of Dubstep after the dancefloor immediacy of N-Type’s
‘Dubstep Allstars 5’.
As with each instalment of the Allstars series the DJ has full control of the selection and as a recognised ambassador of Bristol’s musical talent it’s no surprise that Bristolian producers including Pinch, Peverlist and Komonazmuk are
represented on this CD.
Ultimately Appleblim has been instrumental in Bristol becoming an important city in the Dubstep andscape. With a history including Massive Attack, Tricky and Roni Size it was only a matter of time until attention turned to the West
Country.

About the humble CD:

The CD is essentially a small portable face mirror which has an extra feature of being able to play music (through a thing known as a CD player). These CD's are a modern invention hence them being all shiny and digital. They can hold about 80 minutes of music and apparently are indestructible as you can smear jam on them and they still play (not as nourishing as toast mind you but when you're hungry.....). They sound crystal clear and are tiny convenient things. They lack the charm and warmth of their old analogue counterparts but their portability, convenience and ease of being duplicated make them a perfect thing of a thing for most folks. Jewel cases are the worst thing ever though and they really need to stop.
