These Latitudes CDs are starting to get lovelier, embossed in gold or silver leaf this week. Phil says I can't review White Magic cos we ain't got time (post yr own review you lot! Gah! You want us to do EVERYTHING for youze??) so i've got The (Fallen) Black Deer's 'Requiem', finished off in silver in the delicious house packaging expected from this sonically adventurous imprint. It's initially giving out sinister atmospheric guitar vibes, wandering discordance and tragedy imbued chords building up to an apocalyptic space capsule attack nightmare scenario. The capsule has been shot to bits, there's an air lock flange & some bug eyed green monster's eating your gravity defiant tuna & rocket mayonaisse sandwiches as you look on in terror. Then the fiercest of the monsters, Torquill Blaaaaaaaaaarg 361#82iii, I think, puts on a Godspeed Cd out of complete intergalactic boredom instead of eating you. the tuna butties may just have sufficed & prevented your certain demise. He feels that the Ry Cooderish post-doom mood of their music fits his extra terrestrial misfit despair. He begins to play air guitar to some of the more sombre passages before you black out & realise it were all a dream an' that & everything's gonna be OK. Just OOOOOOOOOK. So yeah, it's good...The (Fallen) Black Deer are Greg Burns (Red Sparowes) and Josh Graham (A Storm Of Light).
These tracks was created specially for the Latitudes series.
