Born Ruffians - Red Yellow and Blue

Red Yellow and Blue by Born Ruffians

I've not quite got Born Ruffians. I don't think they're shit or anything. Far from it in fact... they're probably pretty good. I just don't get 'em. Red Yellow And Blue is their debut album and the title track opens the album, sounding somewhere between Animal Collective and Vampire Weekend with a dash of Violent Femmes. The rest of the album treads a similar path and it's very quirky Pitchforkesque American indie rock. This is how things sound like in the underground these days... get used to it. This is more than likely gonna be a grower though as it's already doing something to me which it hasn't done before. That is it's not actually irritated me yet and that has to be a good thing. It's packed full of energy though which makes me think they'd be entertaining live. I think a lot of these bands are a live thing these days...

An incredible, infectious slice of indie punk from Canadian trio Born Ruffians.   Contains the singles ‘Hummingbird’ and ‘I Need A Life’.
What the critics are saying: “8/10 - One of this new year’s most engaging and endearing indie-rock debuts” – Pitchfork; “A blast of anxious, giddy energy” – SPIN; “89%” – Filter.

BEST guitar-band album of the year so far! And best North American guitar band of the last 5 or so years without a doubt. Been loving these guys since their EP and single on XL/Abeano, and they're still doing well!If you hear they're just a ripoff of Vampire Weekend - their sound is hardly that similar, Born Ruffians were a band first, oh, and they're better!
