The Futureheads: This Is Not The World (Nul) Their third album and maybe their latest attempt to crack the lucrative 'great british guitar band' bracket of fame, celebrity and all that attentend claptrap that comes with beinga axe wielding 'great british guitar band'. Do you notice how I placed the quote; 'great british guitar band' in a review about the most persistent british band of recent times. The quote was seen on front of the debut album by the other proposed 'great british guitar band' The Pigeon Detectives. The quote is attributed to that 'great british rock magazine' Q, who are the only magazine that could give such a preposterous quote about another aspiring 'great british guitar band'. The Futureheads are on their second label now, 'their tunes are a bit better' our Brian says, but they still sound like either XTC or Gang Of Four or some other such 'great british guitar band'. Oh, I'm so bored of the idea of a 'great british guitar band' and I'm sure you are too.Fresh off the back of the smash hit singles ‘Radio Heart’ and ‘The Beginning Of The Twist’, The Futureheads release what is sure to be one of the albums of the year. Having won themselves a wealth of fans and supporters over their five years of making music together, The Futureheads have produced some of the most invigorating guitar-driven punk-pop this country has had to offer in decades.
