What the label says:

TRACKLISTING: 7” A) Turn Tail (Lathe Cut Session), B) Mummy Light The Fire,
CD 1 Turn Tail, 2 Boys Of Humble Beginnings, 3 Valiant Foes, 4 Out Of The House,

OVERVIEW: Turn Tail is the third single release from Young Knives new critically acclaimed album Superabundance. Possibly the biggest record in the Knives recording history. The track features a sixteen-piece orchestra. The soaring string section surges and expands around the palpably tight organics of the band - creating a whole new dimension for Young Knives. The CD version is a four track EP - featuring three new tracks along with the single. For the 7-inch, the band will take their recording back to basics by recording two lo-fi versions direct to vinyl. It may be of interest to record enthusiasts that aside from mics and lathes picking up any sound in the room, no recording studio or equipment will be involved. It is the closest thing to having the band directly in front of you as possible outside of the live arena. This is an exciting move for Young Knives - no artist in the last 25 years has attempted this and the band look set to make musical history. Young Knives will be filmed recording the EP tracks for an online documentary. Visitors to the band’s website can watch the footage. In the studio will be mastering engineer Guy Davie (The Long Blondes/ Chemical Brothers/ The Streets) and engineer Mandy Parnell (Feist/ Simian Mobile Disco).

About the humble 7":

The humble 7" is the smallest of the vinyl formats (not including the ridiculous 5") and it's the perfect medium for transporting a couple of new songs by up and coming bands straight into your ears. They're fun and they take up less space in your house than something bigger would. They come in a plethora of exciting colours and fantastical packages, and you can fit about 14 minutes onto one 7". You may have to get up every few minutes to put a new record on but think of the exercise. Don't forget every record you buy plays at least 2 speeds (depending on your stereo) and you need to play all records on all speeds to get the maximum joy from your purchase.
