Next up the most over-rated band in the country, Hot Chip with 'One Pure Thought' Their occasional useful grasp of melody is so often marred by dreadful tinny production and an overwhelming sense of smugness. Alexis 'Eddie 'the Eagle' Edwards' Taylor's vocals are far too fey and weak for the type of dance tunes they are attempting. Still, as I say, a memorable melody kind of saves it and so I wouldn't really mind hearing this on the radio so long as they edited out the dreadful guitar solo. On the B side you get a bland soulless ballad and the worst remix you'll ever hear that is sure to go down well amongst London's be-mulleted elite.

Hot Chip return with new single ‘One Pure Thought’ on 12th May, taken from the massively acclaimed album ‘Made in the Dark’ released earlier this year. With it’s infectious melody and frenetic refrain, ‘One Pure Thought’ has quickly become both a standout album track and live favourite. In ‘One Pure Thought’, Hot Chip have created a song that’s immediate in its impact and lasting in rich musical detail. It’s propulsive, effervescent, repetitive, rhythmical and intimate all at once. ‘One Pure Thought’ is uniquely Hot Chip.

Hot Chip have spent much of the last 12 months compounding their status as one of the hardest working bands around. Involved in numerous musical side projects, remixing duties and a running a record label.
Already this year they have to released the ubiquitous top 10 smash single ‘Ready for the Floor’, followed that up with the critically acclaimed top 5 album ‘Made In the Dark’ and a sell out UK tour, meanwhile finding time to hop across the pond to play shows in Europe and America.
