What we say

Rating: happy This record left our Ant feeling happy.

A fluorescent yellow 7" rotates at 45rpm and it is by Horowitz. A little guitar indie pop number called 'Tracyanne'. It's good jangly bedroom fun that according to the press release is "gorgeous scuzzy Mary Chain-like a call to arms for anorak clad bowlcuts everywhere" that tickled me. I like to imagine the invasion of the anorak bowlcuts kicking the shit out of new rave kids. There's not enough violence in youth pop culture anymore. "Popkids Of The World Unite!" could be the anthem to bring them all together after mammoth ruck on Brighton beach where they all pound each others heads in with pebbles and choc ices. Hey imagine like a massive world war but the armys would be different groups of youth culture. Goths and emo-kids, crustys, b-boys, ravers, moshers, grebos all having a big shittin riot. I wouldn't get involved. I'm a lover not a fighter.

What the label says:

Horowitz fuzz and jangle their way through two indiepop gems on this double
A side single. Tracyanne is all fuzzpop guitars and ba ba bas whilst Popkids of the World Unite! is a gorgeous scuzzy Mary Chain-like a call to arms for anorak clad bowlcuts everywhere. Limited to 200 copies, this 7" is pressed on a thick slab of transparent yellow vinyl.

About the humble 7":

The humble 7" is the smallest of the vinyl formats (not including the ridiculous 5") and it's the perfect medium for transporting a couple of new songs by up and coming bands straight into your ears. They're fun and they take up less space in your house than something bigger would. They come in a plethora of exciting colours and fantastical packages, and you can fit about 14 minutes onto one 7". You may have to get up every few minutes to put a new record on but think of the exercise. Don't forget every record you buy plays at least 2 speeds (depending on your stereo) and you need to play all records on all speeds to get the maximum joy from your purchase.

'Seriously, it was an Abba carrier bag.'
