The Kabeedies are a much more fun, spindly affair. Somewhere between Los Campesinos, Buen Chico & Vampire Weekend, hailing from Norwich and containing youthful vigour beyond the call of duty. Clean indie pop shorn of fashionista crap, just lotsa dinky guitar and cute lyrics colliding with tight drums & handclaps. They sound very now, obviously caught up solidly in the new wave of pure foot tapping guitar pop that's grabbing ver kids at the mo. Both sides are really quite delightful & smile inducing, there's 3 tracks, on a 7" through Cherryade, it's ltd to a 1000 i'd hazard a guess, and the lead track is 'Lovers Ought To'. So that's al the blurb you need.....apart from the fact it made Ant feel really, really old. And he's the youngster here at the Towers.Cherryade is delighted to present for your listening pleasure CHY016, the greatly awaited debut single from Norwich's The Kabeedies, "Lovers Ought To," on tasty seven inch vinyl.
The Kabeedies are a suspicious gathering of some boys and a girl who like to concoct new ways of baffling the human ear. Their slightly damaged minds dream up gleeful pop tunes and a live show that leaves audience members dying for their next fix of sweat and gaiety.
The band were concieved in October 2006 but the current lineup of Katie, Evan, Rory and Fab (whose ages range from sixteen to eighteen) has been making ladies and gentlemen dance across the east coast since March 2007. They capped off the year by selling out the Norwich Arts Centre for their EP launch and by winning the prestigious Next Big Thing title at the regions largest venue - the Norwich UEA. The new year has been welcomed in with a Huw Stevens BBC session at Maida Vale studios in London and a support slot with the Futureheads. April 2008 will see the release of the band's debut single "Lovers Ought To," the sixteenth release on Cherryade Records, which has already been receiving pre-orders by the proverbial bucketful; with some rather frenzied pre-release hysteria, it looks as if it's going to be a case of first come first served for this record! 'Lovers Ought To' was released on 21st April 2008 and is available on 7" here, or as a download from Indiestore. Tracklisting is:
1. Lovers Ought To
2. Mythical Beasts
3. Come On
