What we say

Rating: happy This record left our Phil feeling happy.

Just in is a bunch of stuff from Australia. It's pretty pricey but it's worth checking out and we've only got a handful of each of 'em in. The label is called Hellosquare recordings and there's 5 releases in total. So some quick summaries....

Shoub Ahmad- Mixed Doubles CD- nice ambience featuring mixes by Part Timer (Moteer), M Rosner (Room 40), Pretty Boy Crossover and more!! well worth checking out and it's housed in a fabric sleeve. We have just 2 copies!
Morning Stalker / The Ghost of 29 Megacycles Split CD- wierd spacey textured ambience with a noisy element. The music spirals of into a whirling pit of doom.... very trance enducing.... That's Morning Stalker. The Ghost of 29 Megacycles is again full of nice textured sounds and is chocka full of gorgeous beautiful acoustic electronics. This one really sucks you in.... We have just 2 copies
Various- Asleep On Trains CD.... top comp featuring the likes of part Timer, Leafcutter John, Sebastien & John Roux, M Rosner, The Rational Academy, Gareth Hardwick and lots more. The line up speaks for itself if you ask me.... We have just 3 copies!
Seaworthy/ M Rosner Split CD- more lush droney ambience from both artists. Fans of gareth Hardwick and all of those follks will lap this chuffer up. Very nice. We have 2 copies!
Anonymeye/ Part Timer Split CD..... Anonymere make some nice gentle folk sounds with some weird fuzzy electronics chucked over it. Nice! Then you get 3 tracks from Part Timer which are all excellent... weird acoustic/ electronic pieces of music which remind me of The Books.

So all in all a well decent label to check out!!

About the humble CD:

The CD is essentially a small portable face mirror which has an extra feature of being able to play music (through a thing known as a CD player). These CD's are a modern invention hence them being all shiny and digital. They can hold about 80 minutes of music and apparently are indestructible as you can smear jam on them and they still play (not as nourishing as toast mind you but when you're hungry.....). They sound crystal clear and are tiny convenient things. They lack the charm and warmth of their old analogue counterparts but their portability, convenience and ease of being duplicated make them a perfect thing of a thing for most folks. Jewel cases are the worst thing ever though and they really need to stop.
