What we say
What the label says:‘The Hot Inc’ positively beams from the speakers, driven by a hectic drum shuffle and wobbly bass, and blossoming into an addictive mesh of solid-gold vocal harmonies, electronic blips and bleeps, hoarse clarinets and repeat-after-me lyrics which lampoon our obsession with what’s hot and what’s not, our gullibility and our cynicism. Think Talking Heads and James Chance enjoying a jam session overseen by Conny Plank (or something). It’s catchy, witty, exuberant and is probably already No.1 in heaven! The Stars are Giles Narang, Dan Hayhurst, Naomi Auerbach and the super-animated, prodigiously quotable Horton Jupiter, who was, among a million other things, a member of Pulp “for one day”. The band’s incandescent, shambolic/shamanic live shows have won them an ardent underground following, and their famous fans include James Murphy, Jarvis Cocker and Carl Craig, but it’s only a matter of time before the whole world falls for their charms. ‘The HOT Inc’ and We Are All In The Gutter find the cosmic-minded quartet at the peak of their musical powers, producing trippy, party-minded and life-affirming pop music that will essentially make your life better. |
