Brian's brain exploded earlier and he couldn't think of anything to write about the Little Sparta & Sally Timms CD single so he gave me a vacant look and chucked it in my review pile. Okay so 'Best Intentions' is out on Sally Timms' (The Mekons) new label Grey Gallery. Her voice sits neatly with the violin playing. You may recognize the name little Sparta from his collaboration with Gerry Mitchell on Fire. He's a talented fiddler and all. This is all very mature sounding and I reckon one for the grown ups. I nearly freaked out the other week when I looked at my two kids and then the penny dropped that I was actually a grown up.1. This is the latest collaboration by LIttle Sparta - this time with
Sally Timms of the legendary Mekons.
2. THe record features three members of the Mekons - Sally, Lu and
Susie. Further to that it is released on Susie's new label - Grey
Gallery Records.
3. The vocals and some instruments were recorded at ATP when Sally
was there performing in 2007
4. Plans for an LP are in the works.
5. Cover art is by the renowned painter Jock McFadyen - also Susie's
Husband
