Nadja/ 5/5/2000 - Split

Blink and you'll miss this ltd Nadja/ 5/5/2000 Split LP on 180g wax. Aidan Baker and Leah Buckareff serve up a slow motion doom-fest. Proper sonic dirge with a futuristic synth sound hovering over the doomy drums which have a nice heavy sound and slow tempo and occasional metallic clatter. All very dirty and analogue sounding. 5/5/2000 I've never heard before and know zilch about but the pairing with Nadja on this LP fits like a glove. Again its doom all round with some black ambient sound worlds and rich, dense textures. Putting the LP back in the sleeve I've just discovered that this also comes with a CD. with a track titles like 'Shadows In The Valley Of Death' you know what your in for. I feel like my clothes are too colourful to be worthy of playing the CD.

Nadja hail from Toronto, Canada, and play what Aquarius Records has described as "deathdoomdronedirge." 5/5/2000 is the ambient/doom side-project of Travis Ryan (Cattle Decapitation) and Nathan Berlinguette (The Human Quena Orchestra, M. Kourie, and formerly Creation is Crucifixion).

I can honestly say this release turned out better than I ever could have hoped. The music/artwork/theme (TUMPISA) gels perfectly and the record as an entire experience turned out amazing. Each band contributes one song/movement clocking in at nearly 20 minutes each.
