Bird By Snow - Industrial Collapse

Industrial Collapse by Bird By Snow

4...according to our on Thu 19 Jun, 2008.

Now this Bird By Snow 'Industrial Collapse' single is quite out there, on the side marked 'Play Loud' we've got a track that sounds like three compressed into one, starting out like a plaintive Will Oldham-like ballad and somehow ending up in loud, twiddling guitar lines. It's a bit all over the place but it's very good, think Xiu Xiu or early Pere Ubu perhaps. On the 'Play Quiet' side is the excellently titled 'Chew Your Fucking Legs Off (If You Have To)' starts a ballad and stays a ballad, it's got a very Southern, Americana feel to it. A nice little limited release this, the songs are apparently a couple of years old which is strange but they deserve to be heard so fair do's.

Two sides of total existential rebirth! Placental for you and bird by snow, a 7 inch baby of the cosmos, belching new sounds, and visions. Replete with new-metal guitar tones, falsetto cave paintings, and gasoline-riot guitar solos (think Blue Cheer in Thunderdome). Begging the question what is paradise? A waterfall? Or a burning sky-scraper? Each cover is hand printed from a linoleum block by bird by snow, at no extra cost to you. Limited to 300. {recorded at home on 8-track cassette tape.} A. No Beard Now / B. Chew Your Fucking Legs Off (if you have to). "...featuring two songs, the fuzz-folk of “No Beard No”, a primitive stomp with some fine guitar and a sense of dynamics that deserves the play loud epitaph written on the label. On the other side “Chew Your Fucking Legs Off (If You Have To)”, is a depressed garage Neil Young ballad, with some plaintive vocals and a melancholic heart that suits itself perfectly to the play quiet epitaph written on the label. Once again the artwork is of a high standard creating a wonderful package that is a credit to both artist and label." - Simon Lewis, Terrascope
