This record left our Brian feeling happy.

Dexter Bentley has a 7" out on Blang which is a great little melodic number with wonderful harmonies, a strummy stroll down memory lane called 'Killer Kane'. It's got that old fashioned classic radio hit all over it with impassioned campfire folk vocals, rustic acoustic guitar and a foot stomping spirit. I'd like to think he looks like David essex and has an eye for the ladies! The flip is great too, a little more melancholy with ukelele or mandolin. Can't work it out but it's a broody beauty, a bit of a heart burster. Great double header with an authentic traditional soul!

Debut single from Resonance FM broadcasters deXter Bentley.  A side is an acoustic pop grower and a tribute to New York Doll Arthur Kane. This song is a veritable earworm after a couple of exposures, particularly the vocal harmonies and descending chords of it’s main hookline.  B side Swansong is a more downbeat mandolin-driven shanty. South Londoners deXter Bentley host the weekly Hello Goodbye show on London’s subversive arts radio station Resonance FM where they provide a platform for underground performers to play live radio sessions. They also run live nights at the 12 Bar Club and the Half Moon in Herne Hill. When not doing all that they mix acoustic instruments with observational songs marked by the very English tenor of Richard Bentley. Guitarist Joss Cope will be known to readers of brother Julian’s Head On and Repossessed autobiogs
