Open Halls’ guitar solos and driving rhythms could easily be lost gems cut by Crazy Horse between takes with Neil, yet the record retains the atmospheric beauty of much of Sykes’ earlier work as well.
Jesse, and especially her band mate Bill Herzog, have been long time friends of Greg Anderson (Southern Lord owner/Sunn 0)))) and Stephen O’Malley (Sunn 0))). After working with Jesse, Bill and Phil on the Altar collaboration an even deeper bond of mutual respect was formed, and talk turned to future and further ventures together.
