Anat Ben David - Virtual Leisure

Virtual Leisure by Anat Ben David

4...according to our on Thu 29 May, 2008.

Anat Ben David CD on Chicks On Speed records... It's called 'Virtual Leisure' and it's a journey through theatre on a CD. One of the more theatrical releases we've stocked in a while... hints of electro and classical music peer through this lovey. Anyone remember that Planning To Rock album that came out on the same label? That's a lot like this... or this is a lot like that. Something along those lines anyway... arty euro pop all over the shop and you get a pair of boobs on the cover of the CD.

Debut solo album from Chicks On Speed’s Anat Ben-David.
"Virtual Leisure" is a musical expedition through many genres. Like label colleague Planningtorock Anat is heavily influenced by classical orchestral strings. Works of Franz Schubert and Mozart inspired the album as well as Russian futurism and a Frederick Hollaender song originally performed by Marlene Dietrich.
Mixing a wide range of musical styles "Virtual Leisure" achieves an enigmatic result: never leaving the roots of female electro-punk and performance arts - every second supercharged as derived directly from a live show - Anat Ben-David creates something seldom and rare - an oeuvre of energetic classical electro pop hymns.
Has played with Peaches, planningtorock and Kevin blechtum, Vive Le Fete, Piney Gir, Cosey fanny Tuttie, Tina Waymouth, Pam hogg, Anna De Silva,
Co-hosts the influential ’Wired Women’ nights in London ("A girl-centric surge of electricity." (Guardian Guide)
