What the label says:

A cult following has grown around enigmatic boy/girl deathly dark duo Dolium. Starting in Sheffield where songwriter Reece Adamo and his domineering bassist Ms De Vine made their first tracks with a drum machine and through a series of intense and disturbing live performances found fans amongst Sheffield’s musical A-list with members of Pulp and Human League both declaring love for the band. These maniacal shows very quickly started to attract a large dedicated following and hundreds of crazed fans would queue outside the Leadmill to see an intense 25 minute graveyard slot where Adamo convulsed and flagilated himself on stage, throwing himself through drum kits and into mosh pits which were lovingly doused in petrol, all gleefully watched by Ms De Vine as she towered above her subjects battering home viscous bass lines and sickeningly sweet harmonies. Bone fractures, bleeding noses and broken teeth were the prized souvenirs to be taken home to mum after a Dolium show.It was something starkly confrontational and violently compelling. The word spread and unsuprisingly Dolium became a huge hit with the late great John Peel. His favourite track being early recording Daddy’s Swinging In The Attic. Steve Lamacq and Huw Stephens also gave strong support and continued plays on Radio One as did XFM’s John Kennedy. The band had started to make a serious impact on the UK underground, further affirmation coming when the world’s leading independent record shop Rough Trade made Dolium’s first single Driving With The Deathettes the Rough Trade Punk Rock Single Of The Year; an honour of the high order. The Dolium debut album, Kisses Fractures (released in conjunction with Cargo Records and Canute Records run by ex Baby Bird John Pedder), took the whole concept of D-I-Y rock’n’roll to new levels and contained enough genuine emotion and breathtaking punk rock elegance to make even the hardest listener shed a tear. The album received critical acclaim, a 4 star review in The Independent and glowing reviews from the BBC and Kerrang! whilst still maintaining avid support from the fanzines. Dolium take their influences from the likes of The Birthday Party, Pixies, Sonic Youth, Joy Division, Big Black and The Velvet Underground but the result is what the Independent Newspaper called “mesmerising in its twists of moods and pace... full of hooks and tunes, it's a refreshing sound”.

About the humble CD:

The CD is essentially a small portable face mirror which has an extra feature of being able to play music (through a thing known as a CD player). These CD's are a modern invention hence them being all shiny and digital. They can hold about 80 minutes of music and apparently are indestructible as you can smear jam on them and they still play (not as nourishing as toast mind you but when you're hungry.....). They sound crystal clear and are tiny convenient things. They lack the charm and warmth of their old analogue counterparts but their portability, convenience and ease of being duplicated make them a perfect thing of a thing for most folks. Jewel cases are the worst thing ever though and they really need to stop.

'when there was crab there was harmony.'
