Pacific - Hot Lips

Hot Lips by Pacific

3...according to our on Thu 17 Apr, 2008.

Pacific have a 7" out on Moshi Moshi. It's pretty lame euro electro pop that references The Human League after they'd lost the plot completely. 'Hot Lips' may appeal to anyone who digs 80s cheese but really, this "cod disco funk" (Copyright Mingus 2008) cuts no mustard with me, not even some dijon. In fact it can fuck right off, yeah, you heard. B-side doesn't even warrant attention after that...

TRACKLISTING:
A side:- ‘Hot Lips’
B side:- ‘Guitar Therapy”

Never let it be said that Sweden is anything but a hotbed of musical talent. The Knife, Love Is All, Jose Gonzales, Peter Bjorn & John, Robyn and most recently Lykke Li are just some of the names to have made their way out of the geysers to enjoy musical success in recent years…
Hailing from Gothenburg, specifically, and set to continue the tradition, Pacific! make romantic drum machine pop, with a talk box and sitar under one arm, and a well used surf board under the other.  “Timeless romanticism” is the secret handshake that binds band members Daniel Hogberg and Bjorn Synneby’s every musical endeavour.
Following the release of their debut single in the UK last August  (limited double a-side ‘Break Your Social System’/ ‘ Runway To Elsewhere’), Pacific! finally give us their followup, and a taster of their forthcoming album, with ‘Hot Lips’. It’s Human League meets West Coast Psychedelia. In 2008. This is a good thing. Counting the likes of the Beach Boys, Phoenix, and Air amongst their influences, Pacific! have mastered the art of crafting melodic, laid-back, melancholic pop.
Pacific’s debut album ‘Reveries’ will be release in the UK in 2008. The band play the Camden Crawl in April. Further live dates to be announced
