What the label says:

"With influences ranging from Buzzcocks and The Jam to Love and Shack, FIGURE 5 are literally pogo-ing their way into the big time. Like a thunderous, smashing, vintage classic their limited edition debut vinyl ’Nitty Gritty’ hit the top 20 of the UK indie chart in September and is already a collectors item. Vocalist Neil Donaldson, lead guitarist Martin Keith, rhythm guitarist Gerard Espie, bassist Graham Gordon and drummer Brian Calderwood formed FIGURE 5 in 2005. Armed with 1960’s haircuts, great pop sensibilities, and a passion for psyched up garage punk they proceeded to infuse a heavy dose of contagious guitar riffs into the thriving Glaswegian live scene. Snapped up by EMI Music Publishing in spring 2007, the band went on to support the likes of The Fratellis , The Enemy, Ocean Colour Scene and Kula Shaker, adding each band to their growing group of fans along the way. Triumphant sets at T in The Park, Rockness and Belladrum summer festivals ensured that their star continued to rise throughout 2007, a fact acknowledged by Xfm who invited FIGURE 5 to play their annual end of year Winter Wonderland charity show in Glasgow- alongside Stereophonics and The Twang. Their debut album, mixed by legendary LA producer Tony Hoffer (Beck, Supergrass) and due later this year, is sure to cement their place as one of the most exciting new bands in 2008. In the meantime, 2nd single Rock Of Gibraltar is a live favourite and rousing anthem that sets them apart from the current crop of guitar bands."

About the humble 7":

The humble 7" is the smallest of the vinyl formats (not including the ridiculous 5") and it's the perfect medium for transporting a couple of new songs by up and coming bands straight into your ears. They're fun and they take up less space in your house than something bigger would. They come in a plethora of exciting colours and fantastical packages, and you can fit about 14 minutes onto one 7". You may have to get up every few minutes to put a new record on but think of the exercise. Don't forget every record you buy plays at least 2 speeds (depending on your stereo) and you need to play all records on all speeds to get the maximum joy from your purchase.
