What we say

Rating: happy This record left our Mingus Who? feeling happy.

Cam Deas: About A Train (Dead Pilot) Is a limited edition two track EP of improvised electronics made from field recordings based on two train journeys. Slowly developing from a calm ambient drift into a bubbling gurgling soundfield, this experimental theme is continued through hissing noise to harsh static from recognisable real life sounds to disguised hus and back again to a more challenging dark journey.

What the label says:

After releases on Pepto, Nost8ment, Dirty Demos and most recently Blackest Rainbow, Cam Deas joins us at Dead Pilot, bringing us this 2 track ep of experimental goodness. An entirely different approach from him, this ep contains 2 tracks improvised around 2 field recordings of train journeys. Cam twists the sounds of the train into dark and fierce noise and the chatter into nightmarish echoes. Harsh and intense in places, calm and delicate in others, this ep will transport you to a train ride to... whereever your imagination takes you. Epic.

About the humble CD:

The CD is essentially a small portable face mirror which has an extra feature of being able to play music (through a thing known as a CD player). These CD's are a modern invention hence them being all shiny and digital. They can hold about 80 minutes of music and apparently are indestructible as you can smear jam on them and they still play (not as nourishing as toast mind you but when you're hungry.....). They sound crystal clear and are tiny convenient things. They lack the charm and warmth of their old analogue counterparts but their portability, convenience and ease of being duplicated make them a perfect thing of a thing for most folks. Jewel cases are the worst thing ever though and they really need to stop.

'lying constantly in life will get you everywhere......honest'
