What we say

Rating: happy This record left our Phil feeling happy.

Also on Drifting Falling is a marvelous CD by Matt Bartram from the band Air Formation. This is some proper old school shoegazing with hypnotic guitars... at times it's a bit rocky and there's a healthy dose of Spacemen 3 and Spiritualized in there. It's very uplifting and rousing, and I am rather enjoying the walls of guitars I can hear every so often which is taking me back to my misspent youth, reminding me of failed attempts at pulling miserable girls. Ah them were the days..... A really strong release if you're into shoegazing and to be honest I've not heard a duffer on this label so it's certainly one to watch out for..... 'Arundel' is CD only.

What the label says:

Through seven years, six releases and multiple compilation appearances with his band
Air Formation, Matt Bartram has proven to be one of the most prolic, consistent and
respected songwriters of the second wave of shoegazing. Recent live appearances include
support for Ulrich Schnauss, Rachel Goswell, Secret Shine, The House of Love and The
Wrens. Air Formation's sound is massive and arresting, with traces of Mogwai or Explosions
In The Sky coupled with healthy doses of Flying Saucer Attack and Sigur Ros.
In parallel to his work with Air Formation, Matt Bartram has spent the last few years
recording more experimental excursions at home on his eight track. These home
recordings generally spawn from improvisations based around simple rhythms and drone.
Recently he's found more time and enthusiasm for this way of working and has created a
number of hypnotic, mesmerising and uplifting tracks which reect a more ambient feel.
Arundel, Matt Bartram's rst solo release is due March 11.

About the humble CD:

The CD is essentially a small portable face mirror which has an extra feature of being able to play music (through a thing known as a CD player). These CD's are a modern invention hence them being all shiny and digital. They can hold about 80 minutes of music and apparently are indestructible as you can smear jam on them and they still play (not as nourishing as toast mind you but when you're hungry.....). They sound crystal clear and are tiny convenient things. They lack the charm and warmth of their old analogue counterparts but their portability, convenience and ease of being duplicated make them a perfect thing of a thing for most folks. Jewel cases are the worst thing ever though and they really need to stop.

'I can see god damnit, I can see.'
