I seem to recall writing about a CD by Platform a bit ago and thinking it was pretty cool. Well Matthew Atkins makes a welcome return with his 5 track CD 'Distanced'. It's kinda weird, mellow electronics with the emphasis on synth sounds and futuristic ones at that. Lots of tones, hisses, blips and metallic sounds create a sense of rhythm without percussion. 'Brittle Boned' has some wicked eerie atmospherics, electronic drips and clicks. I think I've said this before but I can well imagine this guys stuff coming out on Raster Noton.Platform’s third release is a collection of tracks put together over the past three years. Foregoing beats and melodic arrangements, “Distanced” veers further towards the sound design, musique concrete and noise influences suggested on earlier material. The tracks have been constructed from disparate sound sources, which have been heavily manipulated and distanced from their original purpose and meaning.
Once again all the music and artwork has been put together by Matthew Atkins and the disc comes in a limited edition of 50 on CD-R format
