Absent Without Leave. That's what people say about my brain. I'd apply that more to my memory. I can't remember who I am some mornings and have to adopt the alter ego Brian Dangermouse just to get through the day. He's the one that tells me what to do. It's like that rat in Ratatouille controlling the hapless chef I tell thee. Anyway, this 3" (it's banzai CD central here this week @ the towers!) is called the 'Resound EP' i think. It has this emotive synth line on it, like a synth that's just seen it's house burnt down and it's dog flattened by a car. It's mate is a deep old piano chord who gruffly sympathises with his plight. The beats are rudimentary, like prime Yellow 6, a devoted old drum machine that does precisely what it says on the tin. That tune is 'Blue Vitriol' I'm liking this CD, I really am. 'Aerolite' is calming, with a slo-mo rhythmical beat and a druid synth having a mutter about the state of Greek football (what you on about Brian they recently won the European Championship, Mings x)with it's chirpier agreeable neighbour from the villa next door. Finishing with the wistful & moody electronica of 'Pale Yellow', this is a great little release from Greece, thru Chat Blanc, run by a fella from Glider & Below the Sea. Well recommended.

absent without leave is the solo project of the 26 year-old George Mastrokostas, based in Athens, Greece. Recording everything himself in his home-studio, he creates a melancholic sound that covers a multitude of styles such as shoegaze, post-rock, ambient and electronica.
To date, he has released his music on labels such as unlabel (uk), duotone (japan), chat blanc (canada), fuzzy panda (usa), bsbta (denmark), october man (uk) and also on his own label sound in silence (greece) and has collaborated for split releases with artists like yellow6, kimonophonic, lope, doogie and cono norte 3.
He has played several gigs in Greece at various venues, including synch festival 2007 (among other artists like mum, !!!, front 242, fischerspooner, alexander hacke and many others) and support gigs with piano magic (after being selected by piano magic themselves), manyfingers and section 25 (from legendary factory records).
His music has been played on some of the best radio stations worldwide like BBC 6 Music, Resonance FM and others too.
