What the label says:

With a style that combines the manipulative songwriting smarts of Daft Punk with the elegant arrangements of The Postal Service, Belfast based electro pop duo Oppenheimer finally release their debut album for the UK and Europe via Fantastic Plastic.

Shaun Robinson and Rocky O’Reilly first met at an Icelandic electronica show and soon realised they shared a love of kraut-rock, synthesizers and soundscapes. Recording lush, multi-layered music was initially their escape from a rainy Irish winter. Writing summer-pop songs took their minds to other places; the neon sparkle of Times Square, the blue skies of California... they suddenly felt a lot brighter about their hometown. Oppenheimer was formed and they began to record their debut self titled album.

The band’s Northern Irish roots were reinforced by the endorsement of renowned DJ David Holmes, who loaned the band equipment for the recording, and by Ash’s Tim Wheeler who has also collaborated with the band, appearing on this album as guest vocalist on the track ‘Orchid’.

The album also features the acclaimed tracks ‘Breakfast In NYC’, ‘This Is Not A Test’ (recently featured on Ugly Betty) and ‘Saturday Looks Bad To Me’ (recently featured on Gossip Girl).

Oppenheimer have to date shared stages with names like Tilly And The Wall, Architecture In Helsinki, Regina Spektor and Hot Chip, and they recently supported They Might Be Giants on a giant 50 date stateside tour. The band will be touring USA and appearing at the SXSW Music Festival throughout March.

“This is pop music at its most sublime, the soundtrack to a neon fantasy world where everything is shiny, it’s gorgeous, gorgeous music that has universal appeal” - Music OMH.

About the humble CD:

The CD is essentially a small portable face mirror which has an extra feature of being able to play music (through a thing known as a CD player). These CD's are a modern invention hence them being all shiny and digital. They can hold about 80 minutes of music and apparently are indestructible as you can smear jam on them and they still play (not as nourishing as toast mind you but when you're hungry.....). They sound crystal clear and are tiny convenient things. They lack the charm and warmth of their old analogue counterparts but their portability, convenience and ease of being duplicated make them a perfect thing of a thing for most folks. Jewel cases are the worst thing ever though and they really need to stop.

'Moves like a disco lion - magnificent and proud.'
