What the label says:

lMelbourne, Australia based trio Grey Daturas draw sonic influence from a vast ocean of musical styles including free jazz, the avant garde, psychedelic rock, punk, metal, industrial and noise, Grey Daturas have developed a blend of harsh and dark psychedelia unmistakably their own.
lFrom their more nihilistic, sheer noise based beginnings improvising sound tracks to silent horror classics and sixties physics animations, Grey Daturas have over the course of the last six years morphed into a surreal auditory nightmare, blending dark pulsating drones, slow low-end sludge riffs, crushing percussion, and walls of ear torturing noise.
lNow three and a half years since the release of their globally acclaimed second album Dead In The Woods, and
following numerous EP~Rs, split’s and collaborative releases with the likes of Yellow Swans, Monarch, Bardo Pond and Wolf Eyes, Grey Daturas have unearthed their finest and most challenging work, their highly anticipated third album, Return To Disruption.
lAs with all follow up releases comparisons to the predecessor are inevitable. Between Dead In The Woods and Return To Disruption the most obvious difference is the improved production values. Where Dead In The Woods took a modest month to complete on 8-track tape, Return To Disruption spanned a lengthy 18 months on 24-track tape.
Copper / Silver, their collaboration with United States band Yellow Swans, was voted as one of the best ’avant rock’ releases of 2005 by The Wire magazine.
Press for past releases:
- “...it never gets boring, instead it becomes the perfect mix of droning free rock, kick ass instrumental post rock,
buzzing druggy psych and even occasional blasts of full on metal..” - Aquarius Records (Album of the week May 2005)
- “...An improvisational three piece intent on wiping all that is bright, clean and decent from the sunkissed and and drowning it in a muddy grave in the gape of the Pacific...Although they cite the Stooges and Sonic Youth as
influences, this is altogether darker.” - The Wire
- “With a sound that is colossal, piercing and impossible to predict, Grey Daturas may very well be to Australia what Boris is to Japan or Sunn O)) to the United States.” - Heart Attack

About the humble CD:

The CD is essentially a small portable face mirror which has an extra feature of being able to play music (through a thing known as a CD player). These CD's are a modern invention hence them being all shiny and digital. They can hold about 80 minutes of music and apparently are indestructible as you can smear jam on them and they still play (not as nourishing as toast mind you but when you're hungry.....). They sound crystal clear and are tiny convenient things. They lack the charm and warmth of their old analogue counterparts but their portability, convenience and ease of being duplicated make them a perfect thing of a thing for most folks. Jewel cases are the worst thing ever though and they really need to stop.

'you never get lonely in a record shop....'
