Rogue Wave - Like I Needed

Like I Needed by Rogue Wave

Amid a volley of tumbling guitars Rogue Wave announce their UK return with the single Like I Needed released on Island on 24th March.

Scooping glorious chunks out of their own ‘Bay Area’ harmonies with addictively wilful grooves of chiming guitar, bass and drums, Rogue Wave lay down the blueprint for forthcoming album Asleep At Heaven’s Gate, set for release on 19th May.

Rogue Wave are the sound of alt-America; intangibly familiar, captivating and yet forever elusive. ‘…Heaven’s Gate’ has the touch of greatness; ethereal vocal harmonies, lyrical mystique, evolving rhythm and structure, all comprise the hidden gifts of an album that reveals itself in time, and continues to surprise.

Coming into existence in 2002, Rogue Wave released the albums Out of the Shadow and Descended Like Vultures on Sub-Pop. Both albums garnered widespread critical acclaim and lent songs to TV Shows such as The O.C., Nip/Tuck, Scrubs and Heroes, as Rogue Wave toured alongside alt-pop contemporaries The Shins and Spoon.

In realising Asleep At Heaven’s Gate, Rogue Wave have encountered a rollercoaster year; drummer Pat Spurgeon had a kidney transplant, keyboardist Gram Lebron lost his father, frontman Zach Rogue had a daughter and the band recruited a new bass player, Patrick Abernathy. With guest appearances from Matthew Caws of Nada Surf and John Vanderslice, the result is a tumultuous record of ambitious and inventive celebration.
