What the label says:

TRACKLISTING: A1 My Heart Rate Rapid, A2 Matthias Gathering,
B1 My Heart Rate Rapid (Primary 1’s Love Letter To Metronomy), B2 My Heart Rate Rapid (Maton RETRORMX),

OVERVIEW: With their upcoming second album, ‘Nights Out’, Metronomy have sure enough crafted a future electro-pop classic. The first single to be lifted from the LP is a flawless representation of some of the freakishly danceable tracks contained therein. A wholly original mash-up of electronics, ‘My Heart Rate Rapid’ is sheer falsetto-laden, drum-battering brilliance. Metronomy are led by the self-effacing Joseph Mount (founder member and the band’s chief songwriter) who steps up and grabs the mic for most of the tracks on the album. The new album will be the to introduce Metronomy as a three-piece band, rather than a pseudonym for Joseph‘s solo work. In the mean time, after completing a hardcore touring schedule just before Christmas - having toured more or less back-to-back with the likes of Kate Nash, CSS, Foals and Bloc Party - Metronomy readied themselves for their first full headlining tour in Feb/March. In the past year, the band’s live show has come to be something of a speciality, asserting them as a serious, seriously good, live band. With the helping hand of their occasional dance troupe and now trademark light show, and with an arsenal of electro-pop belters now at their fingertips, Metronomy’s game has most certainly been upped.

About the humble 12":

The 12" is the big brother of records as it's an fatter version of the 7", with a vast scope for an array of remixes and B sides. They are slightly less portable their smaller inched brethren but they're by no means inferior. Often the grooves are spaced wider apart and thus sound much much better. You can fit ample tracks on and if worse comes to worse they make fine plates (should your crockery go awol). Yes, there's a hole but holes are easy to sort out. Once again they're available on many different colours and guises. The best thing about a 12" is the potential vastness of the artwork. Also playable on many speeds!!
