The Hafler Trio
Dislocation

This record left our Ant feeling happy.
Got a couple of Hafler Trio CD reisssiues on Korm Plastics in. Ignotium Per Ignotious and Dislocation which is what is playing now. The packaging on this, as with pretty much all of their material is to die for. This was originaly released in 1986 on cassete and then reissued in 1990. Over those years it's lost none of its potentness as far as strange otherworldly audio goes. Bizzare creaking sounds, drones, hisses and crackles weird train noises and radio frequencies, field recordings, what sounds like ships foghorns, animals and ping pong balls and just plain old mental indecipherable sonics. I'm not entirely sure what the concept is here but the sound is relentlessly imaginative and occasionaly disturbing. I've heard bits of Hafler Trio stuff over the years and found it interesting although I've been afraid to immerse myself in their back catalogue as the volume is so intimidating...
