Jose Gonzalez has a new 7" out of his gentleness of Peacefrog. 'Killing For Love' is it's name and it's exactly as you'd expect. I've not taken to his newer stuff as much as I did with his first album. It's not had the same effect on me and I'm not entirely sure why. The songs are good, the guy has a lovel voice and he can play guitar. Maybe it's that wow element which goes after you're more familiar with an artist? Either way this is as good as anything I've heard by him but I can't get excited by it anymore. Limited 7" only..Killing For Love
Neon Lights
Brand new single from platinum selling singer songwriter Jose Gonzalez. Released to coincide with Jose’s new UK tour.
Taken from long awaited follow up to the platinum selling ‘Veneer’ which sold over 450,000 units in the UK alone and was one of only two independent albums certified platinum in the UK in 2006 (the other was Arctic Monkeys’ debut).
“What’s the point if you hate and kill for love?” the song asks, distilling the personal and political into a rousing three minute protest song, his trademark intricate acoustic guitar picking taking on an agitated style.
The b-side is an exclusive non-album track, ‘Neon Lights’, another of the hushed and perfectly mesmeric songs that only José can produce with such grace and lightness of touch.
