Two tracks from Scuba’s imminent debut album ‘A Mutual Antipathy’. ‘Hard Boiled' is a cavernous, spaced-out, minimalist excursion, chewing up and spitting out the Berlin-influenced techno-centric slant on dubstep that has established itself in recent months. 'Tell Her' touches on the classic Scuba contrast of twisted percussion and floating melodies, glacial strings and deepest sub, but with a result that seems completely detached from anything to previously emerge from dubstep’s melting pot of ideas and sounds. Enthusiastically received by Mary Anne Hobbs on Radio 1, and firmly in the boxes of Tayo, Laurent Garnier and all the usual dubstep suspects, this innovative 12” is just a taste of what promises to be one of the most forward-thinking dubstep releases of the year.
