What we say

Rating: happy This record left our Phil feeling happy.

Onto the rather good Robotradio label from Italy comes Dead Elephant. I've not heard of them before. The wife used to collect elephants (not dead ones) and then stopped almost as soon as we started seeing each other. Bang goes my easy birthday/ christmas present option...... Anyway as soon I stuck this on my daughter went nuts, started giggling and then vomited everywhere. So this is the sort of reaction to expect if you play this to kids. It sounds like Unsane and kicks serious arse. It's actually really good sludgey noisy rock so if you're after a bit of that and don't have kids you'll be onto a winner. It also comes in a wierd disturbo sleeve. Also on Robotradio is another kick ass CD by Lucertulas which is more filthy sludgey rock. Am Rep type gear... competently played with some top maths rock style drumming and bits in it. 'Tragol De Rovo' has Unsane elements in it (the vocals) and is really decent quality alt rock like the stuff I used to be completely obsessed about. Oh and we have restocks of the Trumans Water/ Rosalina Mar CD back in on this label (the 1st in this CD series....) They all have really cool sleeves actually....

About the humble CD:

The CD is essentially a small portable face mirror which has an extra feature of being able to play music (through a thing known as a CD player). These CD's are a modern invention hence them being all shiny and digital. They can hold about 80 minutes of music and apparently are indestructible as you can smear jam on them and they still play (not as nourishing as toast mind you but when you're hungry.....). They sound crystal clear and are tiny convenient things. They lack the charm and warmth of their old analogue counterparts but their portability, convenience and ease of being duplicated make them a perfect thing of a thing for most folks. Jewel cases are the worst thing ever though and they really need to stop.
