Blew me away! Heard the song on Maconie on Thrusday and can't stop thiking about it. It's kind of ethereal. I want to buy it but I haven't got a record player - is it available on CD?

What we say

Rating: ecstatic This record left our Phil feeling ecstatic.

Here's a belting single by The Accidental called Wolves on Full Time Hobby. Limited 7" only from this wee group of funsters featuring Sam Genders from Tunng and a chap from The Memory Band. A Marvelous tune indeed. A little more subdued than I expected but the vocals are so Tunnglike you'd be let off a hard spanking from me for thinking it was in fact the same folky wondergroup (albeit a bit more downbeat). Any song all about wolves hiding in the woods drinking beer from plastic cups is a winner in my book. It's propped up with some delightful strings over a simple bontempi beat.... White vinyl 7" only including a Hot Chip mix which I just couldn't bring myself to play.

What the label says:

The Accidental is a new band featuring Sam Genders (Tunng) and Stephen Cracknell (The Memory Band), along with young rising songwriters Hannah Caughlin (The Bicycle Thieves / Fence Collective) and Liam Bailey (recently signed solo artist to Polydor).
Vinyl 7” limited to 500 copies only.
B-side of the 7” features an exclusive remix by Hot Chip..

About the humble 7":

The humble 7" is the smallest of the vinyl formats (not including the ridiculous 5") and it's the perfect medium for transporting a couple of new songs by up and coming bands straight into your ears. They're fun and they take up less space in your house than something bigger would. They come in a plethora of exciting colours and fantastical packages, and you can fit about 14 minutes onto one 7". You may have to get up every few minutes to put a new record on but think of the exercise. Don't forget every record you buy plays at least 2 speeds (depending on your stereo) and you need to play all records on all speeds to get the maximum joy from your purchase.
