It Hugs Back - The Record Room

The Record Room by It Hugs Back

4...according to our on Thu 03 Apr, 2008.

Too Pure let It Hugs Back's CD only singles comp (The Record Room) out of the bag and although i've never heard them before thier gentle motorik indie pop & baby shoegaze is more than welcome cuddled up on my lap. It's like Appliance meets Swirlies here, Lemonheads squeeze Teenage Fanclub there. American style shoegaze guitar elements married with thrumming 2 note bass, disciplined drums & tender vocals. Then there's some sweet folksy touches amongst these fragile, delicate songs but all in all I feel like i'm in the early to mid 90's here, It's a college rock ball & I have the coolest girl at the shindig on my arm as I fling her about the floor in a frenzy of gently fuzzed up rickenbackers & junior Sonic Youth dynamics, all enveloping our blossoming love! AWWWWW!

Newly signed to Too Pure, It Hugs Back debut with an ‘introducing’ compilation, which gathers all their independently released singles on CD for the first time.
It Hugs Back hail from Kent but recall a tapestry of far-flung influences as rich as their layered multi instrumental sound – “a slight nod to My Bloody Valentine and Sonic Youth” (Rob da Bank), hearty chunks of skewed Lemonheads riffs and the pop-hearted summer breeze of ‘Pet Sounds’.
"Early Evening’ is a heartbreakingly delicate tune that almost falls to pieces as it comes out the speakers. Other IHB tunes that’ve been setting up camp in my head for a year sit between Galaxie 500, Smog and My Bloody Valentine and are just as accomplished. Deffo one of my favourite bands of 2007" - Rob Da Bank, Radio 1.    It Hugs Back are touring throughout March and April, including dates with for the BBC’s ‘Introducing’ series, Charlotte Hatherley, Lowgold and Casiotone For The Painfully Alone.
