And onto 65daysofstatic with their brand new single 'The Distant And Mechanised Glow Of Eastern European Dance Parties'. Christ this is an odd one. It's 2 reworkings of the same track (I'm not typing that again) and 2 brand new tracks. The 1st version of the track is an odd 'European techno ' take on the tune with loads of vocals chucked in and I was left reasonably baffled. It's either genius or spaff and I'm personally just not capable of deciding. Whatever it is, it's packed with more fun and energy that a bag of fun size mars bars. The 2nd version of the track is a more 65DOS version with it all sounding big and epic with big guitars and electronics. Lazy people describe them as a cross between Aphex Twin and Mogwai. Well I'm lazy and I'll go with that... also it's pretty spot on. I do really like the last track on the EP though (Antique). CD only on the ducktastic Monotreme records.

What the label says:

The aftermath of the  April 2007 release of their third full-length album, ‘The Destruction of Small Ideas’, saw 65daysofstatic fill the year with almost continuous touring: a headline tour of Europe, numerous festival appearances, and in July, their first ever US tour, with Fear Before The March of Flames. They returned to the USA in October to play the main stage at the Download festival in San Francisco, followed by another tour of Europe, playing to ever larger crowds. 2008 finds them solidly on the road for 5 months: February-March touring as special guests of The Cure all across Europe, and May-June again with The Cure all over North America, including Madison Square Garden, The Hollywood Bowl, Radio City Music Hall and Red Rocks, to name but a few stops along the way. And shoe-horned in between those, a month-long headline tour across Europe. During their brief winter hiatus, the band went into the studio to record  ‘The Distant and Mechanised Glow of East European Dance Parties’  EP to accompany their 2008 tour dates. Comprising two very different takes on the LP track of the same name, plus two completely new songs, ‘The Distant and Mechanised Glow of East European Dance Parties’ answers the question “what happens if we put these instruments down for a couple of seconds and create a 16 strong choir from our own under rehearsed voices?” UK press / radio by Scream Promotions: Reviews to run in Kerrang, Rocksound, NME, The Fly and plays on XFM and Radio 1 evening shows
